About the job Transporation Project Engineer

You will join a team of engineers specializing in roadway and highway design, traffic engineering and transportation planning, as well as stormwater, hydraulics, and permitting. You will collaborate closely with Project Managers and Team Leaders who will provide mentorship and support to help you grow in your career.

What Youll Do:

  • Work on a variety of projects, including roadway design for municipal and state highways, intersection improvements (e.g., roundabouts and signalized intersections), streetscapes, multi-use pathways, ADA enhancements, bridge projects, and drainage improvement initiatives.
  • Handle multiple assignments across a wide range of tasks.
  • Perform design tasks for projects, including roadway geometry, plans, estimates, technical specifications, and reports, ensuring adherence to project scope, budget, and schedule.
  • Engage directly with clients, assisting the Project Manager with correspondence, meeting preparation, attendance, and presentations.
  • Present at public information meetings and municipal meetings (e.g., inland wetlands hearings).
  • Mentor and support staff engineers.
  • Participate actively in professional organizations such as CSCE, ACEC, ITE, WTS, etc., to foster professional relationships.

What Youll Bring:

  • 6 to 12 years of experience in civil engineering with a focus on transportation and roadway design.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Masters degree in Civil or Transportation Engineering is a plus.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer in MA, NH, or CT (or the ability to obtain licensure within six months).
  • NCEES Record is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D; experience with MicroStation OpenRoads is a plus.
  • Experience with HydroCAD or StormCAD is a plus.
  • Familiarity with relevant state design manuals and the AASHTO Green Book.
  • Established connections with state departments of transportation or local municipalities are a plus.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, organization, and time management skills.
  • A valid drivers license.
