Occupational Summary: This role involves leading a small team of approximately four engineers to conduct a wide range of studies related to electric utilities and renewable energy integration. These studies include Power Quality, Arc Flash, Distributed Generation, Battery Energy Storage, Micro-grid, and Transient Analysis, among others. The candidate will serve as the sealing engineer for most of the team's output and will also manage customer relations and business development with select clients. This position reports to the Divisional Vice President.
The role requires leadership in managing various stages of projects, from initial study to design implementation. The candidate will perform both routine and complex tasks to solve power utility design challenges, effectively communicate within the design and project management teams, and provide technical guidance on complex issues in compliance with industry standards such as IEEE, NESC, NEC, and NFPA.
The primary objectives include planning, organizing, and executing assigned engineering studies. The role may involve carrying out complex or novel assignments that require the development of new or improved techniques and procedures.
While this position does not involve direct reports, candidates with proven experience and results may be considered for a Manager role.
Requirements
Position requirements include:
- Supervise and schedule the work of engineers on the candidate's team.
- Act as the primary point of contact for customers, managing existing projects, customer satisfaction, future business, and upcoming project plans.
- Proficiency in multiple areas, including Solar/Wind Farms, Battery Storage, substation, and utility interconnection engineering. Experience in design, such as physical layout, is a plus.
- Strong working knowledge of electric utility systems ranging from 480 VAC to 230,000 VAC, with VDC experience preferred.
- Perform and direct project deliverables, including engineering calculations, computer modeling, and referencing appropriate engineering procedures and design manuals.
- Prepare and direct the preparation of complex project documents, including final reports of findings (studies).
- Conduct and oversee complex system model reviews, ensuring that full PV system models accurately represent the design.
- Supervise and assist in the training of division Project Engineers I and II.
- Work under minimal supervision, producing accurate and timely results without specific direction.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Ability to interact effectively with employees at all levels.
- Perform other related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications:
- B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering and Licensed Professional Engineer (PE).
- A minimum of ten (10) years of relevant experience, including proven design and/or analysis proficiency and project management skills.
Preferred software experience: EMTP-RV®, PSS/E®, PSCAD®, ETAP®, SKM®, EasyPower®, CYMTCC, Milsoft EA WindMil®, LightTable, Office Suite
