Responsibilities:

  • Lead and oversee complex project teams comprising global resources, multiple partners, and project managers to deliver high-quality transmission, distribution, and substation projects.
  • Manage a multimillion-dollar portfolio of EPC and services projects, ensuring alignment with client expectations, project scope, and organizational goals.
  • Build and maintain relationships with multiple clients, including the negotiation and finalization of high-value contracts exceeding $50 million in the energy utility space.
  • Oversee risk management processes for EPC transmission, distribution, and substation projects, addressing challenges proactively to ensure project success.
  • Act as a cultural leader, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment across diverse project teams.
  • Provide mentorship and supervision to project managers, contributing to their professional growth and ensuring high standards of project execution.
  • Drive business growth by identifying opportunities for repeat and new business, leading key negotiations with client executives.
  • Promote safety as a core value, ensuring adherence to safety protocols across all projects and encouraging a safety-first mindset among team members.
  • Interface with other Black & Veatch solutions, including BESS and private networks, to provide integrated services to clients and drive innovative energy solutions.
  • Travel to project and client sites as needed, with hybrid work flexibility when not traveling (3 days in-office, 2 days remote).

Qualifications:

  • Experience:

    • 15+ years of relevant industry experience, including at least one of the following:
      • 5+ years as a Senior Project Manager for an EPC firm focusing on transmission, distribution, or substations (overhead, underground, or HV).
      • 5+ years in a leadership role for EPC T&D/Substation projects with direct accountability.
      • 5+ years in a project leadership role in utility-scale T&D/Substation construction and/or design.
    • Proven experience negotiating high-value contracts ($50M+).
    • Experience managing construction teams directly in direct-hire and/or subcontract environments.
    • Expertise in risk management for EPC T&D/Substation projects.
    • In-depth knowledge of the utility-scale T&D/Substation market.
  • Education: Bachelors degree in Engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Skills:

    • Strong leadership and mentorship abilities with a focus on team and culture building.
    • Excellent negotiation, client relationship management, and communication skills.
    • Proficiency in managing complex projects with diverse risks and stakeholders.
