The team is responsible for developing and maintaining documentation for meeting PJM, FERC (Federal Energy Regulatory Commission) Order 1000, NERC (North American Reliability Corporation) Reliability Standards, and Electric Transmission Planning Criteria and routines. A primary focus includes core system facility rating engineering requirements, data mining for transmission lines and substation conductor and equipment ratings, and data analytics on historical data to validate solution proposals for rating updates and for projects in the present or future Regional Transmission Expansion Plan.

As the Supervisor of the ET Facility Ratings Engineering Team, you would be expected to lead ET Planning through the following:

  • Analysis to validate power system facility ratings for all Electric Transmission conductors and power equipment energized and planned for energization in the Electric Transmission projects approved in PJMs Regional Transmission Expansion Planning Process (RTEPP) load connection projects.
  • Analysis to validate power system facility ratings for all Electric Transmission conductors and power equipment planned for energization in the Electric Transmission projects approved in support of generation interconnection projects.
  • Maintenance and process improvements for the facility ratings practices and databases needed to properly compile and coordinate workflows and manage ratings for all Electric Transmission conductors and power equipment in substations and in transmission line right-of-way.
  • This team has the lead in meeting our transmission ownerships methodology NERC Facility Design and Maintenance (example: Mandatory Standard FAC-008, Facility Ratings).
  • Developing and maintaining power system facility rating standards for use during detail design and engineering evolutions.
  • Leading standardization and planning execution towards the development of facility rating standards for conductors and equipment in power system modeling routines.
  • Collaborate with many internal ET departments (the SOC (System Operations Center), System Protection engineering, Substation Engineering, Transmission Lines Engineering, Engineering Standards, etc.), to ensure ET Planning Criteria, Power System Conductor and Equipment Rating Standards.
