The Opportunity

This position functions as a technical specialist and may lead multidisciplinary engineering teams on medium to highly complex projects. The role is recognized for providing expert technical guidance and influencing standards, processes, and direction within the organization.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership

  • Provide guidance and direction on design guides, engineering standards, systems, and applicable codes.

  • Maintain and update technical standards and best practices.

  • Serve as a technical resource for teams and departments across the organization.

  • Ensure compliance with the companys quality program and promote continuous improvement, risk management, and change adoption.

Project Execution

  • Prepare complex engineering deliverables for multiple or large-scale projects.

  • Conduct research and develop recommendations for equipment and material selection.

  • Lead data collection and management for engineering work.

  • Perform and review advanced engineering calculations and ensure alignment with project scope and requirements.

  • Manage budgets, schedules, and quality targets.

  • Oversee project teams, coordinate multidisciplinary efforts, and serve as engineer of record when required.

  • Establish work plans and delegate tasks to develop team expertise and depth.

Client & Business Development

  • Identify key client interests, drivers, and project priorities.

  • Communicate client needs to internal teams and integrate them into project delivery.

  • Support pursuit and proposal activities, and contribute to business development initiatives.

  • Anticipate future client requirements and help position the organization for long-term opportunities.

Specialized Expertise

  • Act as a technical authority in a broad or niche area of specialization.

  • Develop and apply advanced engineering approaches to complex challenges.

  • Provide consultation for multiple projects or large-scale efforts.

  • Represent the company in professional forums, technical societies, and conferences.

People & Performance Management

  • Supervise, mentor, and develop engineering staff at various levels.

  • Support hiring, performance reviews, compensation management, and career planning.

  • Identify and train successors and promote professional growth within the team.

Management Responsibilities

  • Direct supervision of team members, including responsibility for hiring, performance management, and pay administration.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Significant experience in steel and reinforced concrete design for power plant and/or industrial facilities

  • Experience in front-end design and conceptual studies for similar environments

  • Proven ability to write detailed technical and construction specifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in engineering from an accredited institution

  • At least 11 years of related engineering experience

  • Ability to complete pre-employment requirements, including background checks, drug screening, and driving record verification (as applicable)

Certifications

  • Active professional engineering registration or licensure supporting engineer-of-record responsibilities, or active pursuit of such licensure as required

  • Additional registrations may be needed based on project or regional requirements
