About the job Senior Electrical Engineer - Substation
Responsibilities

Lead electrical design efforts from initial concepts through final design, ensuring all project requirements and expectations are met.

Develop specifications, data sheets, RFQs, technical bid evaluations, and purchasing recommendations for electrical equipment and packaged systems.

Review vendor drawings; coordinate technical information with suppliers, internal project teams, designers, and detailers.

Support the creation of project schedules, scopes, budgets, staffing plans, and construction strategies; manage change orders effectively.

Apply advanced knowledge of electrical engineering principles, codes, standards, and industry practices.

Devise creative solutions to complex design challenges and non-standard project requirements.

Perform quality reviews of production drawings and project documentation across multiple CAD platforms.

Oversee construction administration activities, including coordination with field teams, resolving installation issues, performing calculations, conducting site inspections, and supporting electrical system testing.

Lead field investigations, measurements, and evaluations for both public and private sector clients.

Prepare and deliver technical reports for clients and professional publications.

Maintain strong client and contractor relationships while identifying new business opportunities and supporting customer satisfaction goals.

Contribute to business development efforts, including identifying strategic pursuits.

Lead the preparation of cost proposals and qualification packages to meet financial objectives.

Present project budgets, cost estimates, and performance updates.

Mentor and guide junior engineers, providing leadership within the electrical engineering discipline.

Ensure adherence to QA/QC processes.

Maintain effective communication with other engineering disciplines throughout project execution.

Comply with all safety policies and site-specific requirements.

Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
-
Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or a related ABET-accredited discipline with at least 7 years of electrical engineering experience; EPC experience preferred.
OR
Bachelors degree in Electrical or related Engineering Technology from an ABET-accredited program, FE certification, and 7 years of electrical engineering experience; EPC experience preferred.
OR
Masters degree in Electrical Engineering with a minimum of 6 years of experience; EPC experience preferred. -
Advanced expertise in standard engineering methods and procedures; strong understanding of electrical equipment design, ANSI standards, and IEEE standards.

Proficient with Microsoft Office and other relevant software.

Strong written and verbal communication abilities.

Experience leading electrical design on large projects and delegating tasks within a team.

Ability to drive project execution and troubleshoot interdisciplinary issues.

Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills; able to work systematically in quantitative problem-solving environments.

Excellent attention to detail along with strong skills in teamwork, coordination, organization, and problem-solving.

Ability to perform detailed QA reviews of engineering deliverables.
-
Willingness to travel.

Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
