About the job Project Engineer IV - Substation
Overview
The Project Engineer IV leads a small team of engineers and CAD designerstypically around five team membersfocused on general/physical layout and protection & control packages for substation design projects. This role serves as the sealing engineer for most deliverables produced by the team and plays a key part in client relations and selective business development efforts. The position reports directly to the Divisional Manager.
Openings are available in the Charlotte and Raleigh offices.
Key Responsibilities

Supervise, coordinate, and schedule work for engineers, designers, and CAD personnel on the assigned team.

Serve as the primary client point of contact for active projects, ensuring satisfaction and assisting with planning for future work.

Demonstrate proficiency across multiple substation engineering disciplines, including physical layout, protection and control design, relay settings and programming, field support, commissioning, and relay testing.

Perform and oversee project design activities, including engineering calculations, the use of design software, and application of engineering standards and manuals.

Prepare and/or direct the development of complex project documents, such as specifications and bid packages.

Review full plan sets, ensuring they are accurate, complete, and clearly represent design intent.

Provide guidance and training to Project Engineers I and II within the division.

Utilize Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook for daily tasks.

Communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders at all organizational levels.

Perform additional related duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications
-
B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering.

8+ years of relevant engineering experience.
-
Licensed Professional Engineer (PE).
