Software International (SI) supplies technical talent to a variety of clients ranging from Fortune 100/500/1000 companies to small and mid-sized organizations in Canada/US.
We are currently looking for a System Administrator - LAMP for our web development and new media marketing client that primarily supports clients on various website design, payment, maintenance and backend infrastructure services. Our client works with a variety of end clients spanning B2B, eCommerce, Online Dating, Online Adult Content and Online Gaming. Interested candidates must be confortable working with all end client groups.

Rate/Salary: $4,000 USD /month
Summary:
Reporting directly to the CTO. The Systems Administrator is responsible for performing the day-to-day operating system administrative activities for servers running Linux.
Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups. In addition, the incumbent will perform assigned system administration duties for all network services in support of Web
delivery and the Web development environments. This will require familiarity in software deployment and integration in a Unix environment, working predominately with Open Source tools and programs. The incumbent reports to the Systems Manager through whom general direction and priorities are set.
Responsibilities:
o UNIX/Linux Server installation, hardening, monitoring and performance tuning.
o Shared Primary SA for all data-center related facilities issues (power, generator, cooling)
o Shared Primary SA for all production servers, responsible for application
deployments, and regular maintenance
o Planning and patch management
o Technical documentation
o Support of desktop OSX machines
o Work with and be available to support Development and QA users
o Diagnose server-hardware issues and complete all hardware-related maintenance (eg: swap a drive, rack-mount a server)
o Use technical knowledge to work with and maintain a variety of server-based applications such as Nagios, Jira, Git, Ansible
o Understand and support other systems and applications as needed
o Support and maintain network switches, routers and firewalls
o Be part of on-call rotation (1-week duration every 8 weeks, weekends and 4 hrs overnight).
o Other duties as assigned.
Skills Requirements:
o Minimum combination of education and experience totaling 6 years, with a
preference for 3 or more years of Unix/Linux MySQL PHP and Apache work
experience.
o Solid understanding of the OSI or TCP/IP model
o Strong understanding of Application Layer Protocols such as HTTP, DNS, SMTP
o Experience with ELK (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana)
o Excellent communications skills
o Excellent system level trouble shooting skills
