Overview
The Patching Coordinator position will focus on improving the AECs security posture,
work closely with the AEC Cyber Security section to implement OS, application, and
system patching across the AECs ICT environment. Reporting to the IT Infrastructure
Assurance Team Lead, this position will assist the team lead to manage the day-to-
day matters relating to the assurance control, review and security patching of AEC
systems, and compliance of AEC systems, to mandated security controls.
This role is responsible for undertaking very complex and/or sensitive work, under
broad direction, utilising expertise across a range of activities relating to IT Service
Management.
1. About our requirements
The role will be responsible for, but not limited to:
Working as part of a small team to manage the assurance and integrity of AEC systems
Implementing cyber security related patches for AEC applications and operating systems based on urgency and applicability
Liaising with AEC Cyber Security and Third-Party Vendors for the implementation of required patches
Contributing to the documentation of AEC systems
Participating and coordinating regular scanning and testing of the AEC ICT environment.
Other duties as directed by the relevant hiring manager
2. About the Project
The Digital Technology Branch delivers a range of ICT services to the agency including infrastructure, application development and digital communications. ICT services are delivered through a select sourcing model, with a mixture of in-house and outsourced resources.
The Digital Technology Branch is committed to building the agencys information
technology capability by providing resilient, modern, and secure systems informed by
data and insights, and to upskill teams to develop innovative new products and services.
The IT Infrastructure Section is responsible for the management and problem resolution
of the agencys ICT infrastructure, including:
ICT on-prem and cloud networks
Email systems
File storage and management
Database administration
Software delivery
Every application requires to address selection criteria as part of application submission.
Mandatory:
Demonstrated knowledge and experience in patching, testing, and maintaining an enterprise sized ICT environment.
Demonstrated knowledge and experience in identifying, and documenting, components of systems.
Demonstrated ability to manage work hours and schedules to support maintenance activities around core business hours.
Sound knowledge and experience in successfully managing and delivering results within time restraints and with competing priorities.
Demonstrated knowledge of risk management principles and processes in context of security patch management.
Knowledge and experience in cyber security assurance, including assurance activities and reporting with respect to the Australian Cyber Security Centres (ACSC) Essential Eight (E8) and associated E8 Maturity Model.
Ability to communicate with influence and manage stakeholder relationships.
Proven conceptual and analytical abilities with sound knowledge of change management practices and techniques to enable innovation.
Demonstrated personal drive and integrity whilst achieving results within legislative and budget parameters.
Desirable
Relevant qualifications in IT assurance, cyber security or similar.
Demonstrated knowledge of IT frameworks, such as ITIL and TOGAF
Demonstrated knowledge of Commonwealth frameworks, including the PSPF
