Position Description:
This role will work within the SEA2273 Sub-Program of the Warfighting Networks and Applications Support Organisation (WSO), ICT Delivery Division, Chief Information Officer Group, Department of Defence.
The SEA2273 Senior Infrastructure Architect/Network Lead is responsible for assisting the SEA2273 ITS Manager with the technical and transformative aspects of Warfighting Infrastructure and Networks. This role is expected to provide management and oversight of the networks team, provide infrastructure architecture, and work closely with other technical teams across the wider WSO setting.
The Senior Infrastructure Architect/Network Lead will be required to perform and/or have responsibility for duties including, but not limited to:
- Lead the network team by managing tasks, prioritising activities, providing advice and direction, and reporting to ITS and project management.
- Provide technical direction and architectures for the integration of SEA2273 network interfaces, services and components, in compliance with requirements, standards and ICT best practice.
- Provide infrastructure architecture, including high-level strategy and advice for Minerva components in their design, deployment and sustainment.
- Provide advice and mitigations regarding ICT network and infrastructure problem tickets, test defects, and obsolescence.
- Liaise with ITS Leads to ensure network and infrastructure architecture activities are aligned with ITS and project outcomes.
- Identify and provide advice on ICT network and infrastructure risks, issues and mitigations to Project stakeholders.
- Provide guidance on constraints, challenges and best practice implementation of ICT networks in warfighting domains.
- Conduct capability and concept development in alignment with functional requirements.
- Conduct Standards and Framework GAP analysis and investigation activities.
- Conduct Architectural Design and implementation activities.
- Support Verification and Validation (V&V) activities for proposed Architectures, Designs and Products.
- Support the Architectural accreditation process.
- Advise and align design during Security certification and accreditation process.
- Author and maintain design documentation to support current and emerging solutions.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Experience working in Defence as an architecture and network delivery lead for warfighting networks.
- Demonstrated experience in architecture design, build and implementation of ICT infrastructure and networks.
- Demonstrated ability to manage the target design, policies and standards, by working proactively to maintain a stable, viable architecture and ensure consistency of design across the Project and within the Program.
- Ability to take customer requirements, industry standards and frameworks and apply in a practical application to future proposed designs and systems.
- Strong communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills with ability to present and engage with both internal and external stakeholders and Projects.
