Overview

Summary of work to be done:

The Enterprise Architecture Section partners with business and digital delivery teams to guide business technology decisions and investments that ensure business vision and outcomes are achieved with the effective use of technology. As trusted advisors to business and technology leadership, the Section provides enterprise architecture design, governance and assurance services throughout the ICT investment lifecycle from strategy, policy design and business case development through to delivery and sustainment. The team also engages broadly across

government and industry to ensure its advice and guidance considers emerging technologies and trends and is aligned with government policy.

The Section has a requirement for maintaining a pool of suitably skilled, and experienced Solution Architects, to work across a range of whole of Government (WoG) and internal capability delivery programs.

The Specified Personnel will be responsible for providing the following deliverables including but not limited to:

  • Leading the creation and review of complex systems capability designs and architectures that aligns and delivers on the Departments strategic goals and objectives;
  • Producing and evaluating conceptual, logical and physical solution designs and security impact assessments for projects;
  • Overseeing technical aspects of system development and integration, including requests for changes and deviations from specifications;
  • Adapting and applying contemporary data management standards, guidelines and architecture patterns, including but not restricted, to metadata management, data modelling, Data Assets Management, Data Integration and Interoperability, and Records Management design responsibilities;
  • Using appropriate tools, including logical models of components and interfaces, to contribute to the development of systems architectures in specific business or functional areas.

Specified Personnel will be expected to transfer skills and knowledge to departmental staff and ensure appropriate documentation is stored in accordance with the Departments recordkeeping policy and practices.

The Specified Personnel will also be responsible for producing the following deliverables, including but not limited to:

  • Data architecture patterns;
  • Meta models;
  • Data standards;
  • Design reviews;
  • Solution designs;
  • Blueprints;
  • Project architecture artefacts (such as Solution Outlines and System Architecture Documentation);
  • Architectural decision documentation.

Every application requires to address selection criteria as part of application submission.

Essential Criteria

1. Experience working in Federal Government departments, within multi-disciplinary groups across business, application, information and solution architecture.

2. Experience with design and communication of high-level structures including ability to guide the design and development of integrated solutions that meet current and future business needs.

3. Ability to engage and influence senior leadership and provide the key link between senior executives and staff.

4. Ability to provide definitive and expert advice in their specialist area(s).

5. Demonstrated experience in the application of TOGAF or equivalent architecture framework.

Desirable Criteria

1. Experience in designing cloud based PaaS and IaaS solutions.

2. Prior experience working within large government organisations, or similar portfolio environments such as Home Affairs.

3. Relevant tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline or field (e.g. Information Technology, Network Engineering, Systems Engineering, etc) is required.
