SEA5014PH1 Overview:
SEA5014PH1 is a Capability Assurance Program (CAP) to support extending Navys ANZAC Class Frigates (FFH) beyond their current Planned Withdrawal Dates (PWDs) to meet the Initial Operating Readiness (IOR) of the Hunter Class Frigates (FFGs).
The project will supplement frigate sustainment funding (CN02) to enable Navys eight Anzac Class Frigates to maintain their combat/platform capability and assure Defences Major Surface Combatant capability until the FFH class is fully replaced by the Hunter Class Frigate (FFG) program in CY2043. SEA5014PH1 will address:
deferred maintenance;
hull fatigue and systems obsolescence;
Increased material sustainment risk; and
Margin remediation, e.g. weight and power, from annual growth and Capability Insertion Projects to maintain capability relevance.
Position Overview:
Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Electrical Engineer provides Governance and Assurance services to underpin the delivery of SEA5014PH1 engineering scope (Platform Systems - Electrical). The Electrical Engineer works collaboratively with the Anzac SPO, Warship Asset Management Agreement (WAMA) Alliance and Royal Australian Navy to deliver SEA5014PH1 outcomes.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Conduct and review engineering investigations into a range of issues/areas including defects, obsolescence, proposed engineering changes and maintenance procedures.
Enable supportability and engineering analyses. Analysis tasks may include assessment of Reliability Centred Maintenance, cost modelling, trade studies or trade-off analyses.
Provide analysis of engineering change requests to determine if the change is feasible and if it is likely to be cost-effective.
Assist in engineering change registration; determine the need, provide justification and define objectives to support formal registration.
Support and participate in Materiel System Reviews (MSRs), e.g. Preliminary Design Review.
Support Production and Integration of engineering change.
Witness and support test, evaluation and acceptance of engineering change.
Support the development & maintenance of a time-based schedule of engineering activities and milestones, MSRs and key dependencies
Analyse, monitor and report risks and opportunities.
Conduct Research & Development activities as directed.
Investigate and evaluate emergent technologies as directed.
