Services Australia is seeking to identify suitable Candidates to perform the role of Test

Engineers, from junior levels to expert and manager levels, to support the agency achieve

overall testing strategies, managing effective planning, monitoring and execution of all testing

activities within the agency.

Test Engineers ensure that their test effort is effectively executed and that allocated activities

are completed in a structured, consistent manner in accordance with agreed test guidelines.

They use their in-depth knowledge to provide technical advice and development to less

experienced testers. They exercise a degree of independent judgement and make decisions

within defined parameters that require reliance on skills and knowledge. Test Engineers plan

their own work and contribute to teamwork goals in the context of competing priorities, and

changes in workplace practices and business improvement strategies.

The level of Security Clearance required for a Role will be confirmed at the time of Contract.

Main Duties

Duties may include, but not limited to, some or all of the following:

  • oversee the planning, development and management of test cases
  • implement and support the test process, policies, procedures and best practices
  • analyse functional requirements to determine the software application testing requirements
  • define the approach for scripting, test data requirements gathering, and test data gathering
  • ensure the provisioning of requirements for the test environments
  • define the inventory of test scenarios
  • contribute to the operations of a team, including managing business performance, establishing priorities, and managing resources and workflow
  • develop staff capability through coaching and mentoring to increase performance and engagement
  • set direction by contributing and aligning to local business plans and ICT strategies
  • use progress against business outcomes, key performance indicators and quality assurance reports to inform management, strategic direction and future planning
  • proactively share knowledge and expertise, and provide assistance and mentorship to less experienced colleagues
  • oversee, review and advise on a range of written material including technical and corporate documentation
  • collaborate with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders to achieve project outcomes
  • negotiate, engage and manage relationships with other agencies and service providers to build service delivery capability
  • attend interagency meetings and forums to influence business outcomes and share information
  • drive innovation, continuous improvement and manage and lead change
