Land Command, Control, Communications and Computers Modernisation System Program Office (LC4 Mod SPO) is seeking a suitably qualified and experienced Software Engineer, with relevant knowledge of the Defence Capability Life Cycle (CLC) and Fundamental Inputs to Capability (FIC), to operate as an embedded part of the Platform Integrated Electronic Systems (Plat-IES) team.

LC4 Mod SPO enables Defence Capability through the delivery of integrated LC4 products and systems, and its purpose is to enhance Defences capabilities in planning and conducting military activities, and in meeting interoperability and international obligations. The Plat-IES team is responsible for the provision of Integration as a Service (IaaS). IaaS is a method of planning, designing and delivering electronic system projects and products as a holistic capability design.

Working together with Government, Capability Managers, and Industry partners as an innovative team, key priorities for the SPO include integration, work take-on, and testing capability. The enterprise is made up of various capabilities needed for the provision of Command, Control, Communications, Computers and Intelligence (C4I) to stakeholders and is procured and sustained by a number of different agreements.

This position will provide specialist systems architecture and administration related advice and knowledge in support of system replacement or modernisation activities. The position will be reporting to the Engineering Manager within PlatIES, LC4 Mod SPO. The role involves cross-functional co-operation and collaboration with project management and engineering resources.

About the Role:

LC4 Mod SPO is looking for a suitably experienced and qualified individual to undertake system architecture, administration, hardening, integration and configuration activities in support of a range of ICT and engineering projects.

The required services may include:

Developing custom interfaces to Command and Control (C2) applications, APIs and hardware.

Design, build, operation and support of physical and virtual server computing infrastructure;

conduct software capability and concept development;

conduct requirements analysis and development;

conduct V&V (inclusive of software assurance);

conduct certification and support; and

plan and deliver engineering services, regulatory compliance.

Experience Skills Sought:

Services are to be provided by personnel holding tertiary qualifications in a relevant engineering or computer science field and practical experience in the designing and administration or physical, virtualised or containerised ICT systems in a highly secured environment.

Services are to be provided commensurate with relevant Australian and International Standards, regulations, and Defence requirements.

Service providers are to employ industry best practice when undertaking the Services.

Essential Experience and / or Qualifications:

A qualified practitioner with higher degree qualifications or relevant industry experience of more than 8 years;

This engineering position requires a Bachelor of Engineering from an Australian institution, or a qualification gained elsewhere, that satisfies the requirements of the Washington Accord for recognition as a Professional Engineer in software engineering, computer systems engineering, Electrical Electronics or suitable System administration experience in Linux and Windows environments;

Experience working in Agile, DevOps or DevSecOps environments;

Experience hardening hardware platforms;

Software configuration management experience; and

Software and/or ICT testing experience.

1 year of CASG experience

Highly Desirable Experience and / or Qualifications:

Already have or ability to obtain a Negative Vetting 1 Security Clearance;

Previous Defence experience is highly desirable;

Experience administrating virtual machines, containers and dockers;

Identity and Access Management (i.e. Windows Active Directory / SSO services);

Experience interfacing with and controlling hardware and software over APIs, Serial (RS232/422) and TCP/IP;

Knowledge of security and encryption;

Java programming experience;

Network and administration experience;

Automation of software and ICT; and

Software configuration management.
