About the Role

LAND 200 Program is providing Army with a Battle Management System (BMS) with an integrated Tactical Communications Network (TCN) - delivering the Battlefield Command System (BCS) capability. This position will directly support the LAND 200 Phase 2 (L200-2) TCN project which will deliver the TCN across Joint Land Force including headquarters and platforms. It ensure the alignment and technical accreditation of the TCN in supported vehicle platforms, to align its use in accordance with open standards and architectures, such as the Generic Vehicle Architecture, and Vehicle Standard Operating Environment.

Land 200 Ph 2 Project is seeking a suitably qualified and experienced Systems Engineer, with a strong mechanical and electronic, or mechatronic experience, to operate as part of the Land 200 Ph 2 TCN engineering team. The role is primarily focused on delivery of integrated vehicle solutions and documentation to support the project through the acceptance and transition. The position will exercise both initiative and judgement in the interpretation of policy and in the application of practices and procedures. The position will provide detailed systems engineering technical and professional advice in relation to complex work and contribute to planning and delivery of the system.

The Services, delivered in collaboration with and under supervision by nominated Defence and project personnel, include, but are not limited to, the following:

Provide dedicated system engineering skillset to the Land 200-2 TCN project;

Development of required documentation for systems certification activities

Communication within the Program Manager and other stakeholders

Able to work independently and within broad guidance

Work effectively in a small team environment

Provide knowledge/skills transfer to other team members; and

Record and maintain files/information in accordance with Defence requirements.

Experience/Skills Sought:

As the successful candidate you will possess the following:

Demonstrated experience and knowledge in System Engineering, command, control and/or communication capability understanding, CASG project experience (preferred) and T&E planning

Demonstrated experience in delivering high quality capability documentation to enable the project to attain design acceptance and material releases.

Demonstrated high-levels of self-motivation and ability to work under limited supervision to achieve directed project/capability outcomes

Demonstrated strong communication skills with a focus on team, stakeholder engagement and management.

Good experience in supporting configuration management, baseline management, requirements definition and/or management, and systems engineering.

Essential Qualification/Experience/Work Environment:

Degree qualified in engineering (systems, mechatronics or related experience) with related field experience (for example telecommunications, ICT or complex mission systems, and communications environments).


Desirable Qualification/ Skills/ Experience:

Recognised Professional Engineer with IEAust

Expertise in C4 integration onto platforms,

ICT strategies, architectures, operating platforms, networks, security compliance and governance

Understanding of Defences Capability Life Cycle.
