Overview

The Linux Administrator:

  1. May be required to provide team leader functions if this is required the appropriate support and/or training will be provided.
  2. Complies with JCTB Information Technology Service Management (ITSM) Policy.
  3. Performs work in production and non-production environments.
  4. Manages and documents the configuration of Linux based systems.
  5. Manages and configures virtual machines supporting simulation applications.
  6. Performs audits of hardware and software and manages storage and backup.
  7. Applies operating system updates, patches, and configuration changes.
  8. Adds, removes, or updates user account information, including password resets.
  9. Optimises the performance of the system.
  10. Utilises JCTB ITSM tools, monitors tools routinely, responds to ticketing & scheduling priorities, annotates tickets with meaningful commentary, reassigns with approval and marks complete using standard criteria.
  11. Analyses system logs and identifies potential issues; and
  12. Trouble-shoots reported problems.
