Services Australia is seeking to identify suitable Candidates to perform the role of Test

Engineers, from junior levels to expert and manager levels, to support the agency achieve

overall testing strategies, managing effective planning, monitoring and execution of all testing

activities within the agency.

Test Engineers ensure that their test effort is effectively executed and that allocated activities

are completed in a structured, consistent manner in accordance with agreed test guidelines.

They use their in-depth knowledge to provide technical advice and development to less

experienced testers. They exercise a degree of independent judgement and make decisions

within defined parameters that require reliance on skills and knowledge. Test Engineers plan

their own work and contribute to teamwork goals in the context of competing priorities, and

changes in workplace practices and business improvement strategies.

The level of Security Clearance required for a Role will be confirmed at the time of Contract.

Job Title Associate Test Engineer

APS Equivalent Level APS 4

Main Duties

Duties may include, but not limited to, some or all of the following:

execute assigned test cases on appropriate testing platforms in accordance with project test plans

identify resources or access required to execute tests

write simple test plans, test cases, task cards and requirements for review by senior staff

record test results, and report or action any unexpected or unsatisfactory outcomes

provide input into team improvement initiatives and projects, including team tools, process changes, and test automation

identify and document defects, programming errors and operational characteristics that are inconsistent with stated requirements and design specifications, and assign to senior staff

conduct testing to ensure the delivered ICT service functions as per requirements

accurately record time and effort for test cases

Methods and tools METL - Level 3

Testing TEST - Level 3

Ability to:

foster effective stakeholder relationships

communicate confidently in a clear and concise manner

manage time and plan own workload against performance expectations

analyse information and identify issues

research and make sound decisions within established guidelines

work as part of a team under general direction

prioritise tasks and see tasks through to completion

adapt to a changing environment
