Senior Commercial Manager

Role and responsibility:

  • Accountable for managing any allocated resources, setting work area priorities, workflows, developing strategies and evaluating business outcomes
  • Manage, lead and be accountable for providing advice and support to procurement planning, tendering and contract formation, and contract management activities while ensuring compliance with legislation, procurement policies, processes and procedures
  • Manage, lead and provide high level advice, assistance and services during the procurement lifecycle on contracting activities including coordination of legal and financial services.
  • Generate and review strategic and very complex contracting correspondence including providing high level advice in relation to commercially sensitive reports, submissions, contract change proposals and other documents as required
  • Contribute own expertise to guide and mentor others on the more complex aspects of legal and commercial risk principles and performance management frameworks related to procurement and contracting activities.
  • Contribute own expertise to others on the more complex aspects of procurement and contracting.
  • Build and sustain productive working relationships with stakeholders to influence decisions and ensure alignment with broader Defence objectives
  • Evaluate and design mitigation strategies for the risks associated with very complex procurement and contracting activities, contract performance and compliance with legislative and policy frameworks
  • Design and implement innovative solutions, consulting as appropriate on very complex and strategic procurement contracting issues.

Other Relevant Information or Qualifications Needed:

  • ASDEFCON experience required
  • Defence procurement and contract management experience required
  • Knowledge of the contracting and procurement framework, the PGPA and other related Defence policy required
  • Experience in Maritime domain is desirable
