Overview:

The Business Solutions Branch within DFATs Information Management and Technology Division, has a requirement for a labour-hire resource to fill the role of Salesforce Solution Architect. As a Solution Architect, you will take a broad view of the entire Salesforce ecosystem at DFAT and develop and implement a strategic architecture plan for a sustainable, secure, and cost-efficient ecosystem of multiple orgs, multiple clouds and numerous applications addressing DFATs many business requirements. You will mentor other Salesforce professionals working with you and ensure principles and standards are adhered to for work implemented by the Project Delivery teams and the Business-as-usual support teams. You will champion optimum use of platform capabilities and lead technical design reviews, ensuring declarative and programmatic solutions are used appropriately. You will present new design patterns to the Architecture Review Board for endorsement. You will work as a trusted advisor and provide evidence based, thoughtful and impartial guidance, and work to achieve the best outcomes for DFAT at all times. You will need a deep technical understanding of the Salesforce platform and be able to communicate your vision effectively to different stakeholders.

About the Department / Role: The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) promotes and protects Australias international interests to support our security and prosperity. We work with international partners and other countries to tackle global challenges, increase trade and investment opportunities, protect international rules, keep our region stable and help Australians overseas. The Salesforce program within DFAT has been running since 2019 and is responsible for a broad remit of new and ongoing work ranging from Consular and Crisis support of Australians overseas, implementation of Trade sanctions and governance, and implementation of Australian Student Scholarship programs, to name a few. We are looking for motivated professionals to join our dynamic team to deliver a sustainable Salesforce ecosystem to manage a complex and varied workload.

Role Responsibilities:

  • This is a varied delivery leadership role, with the following responsibilities:
  • Conduct research into clients business requirements and use of Salesforce, and communicate findings with recommended steps and a roadmap for Salesforce solutions,
  • Collaborate with colleagues and customers to create proofs of concepts.
  • Review solutions, champion best practice and out-of-the-box solutions, recommend improvements, and champion architectural thinking at an application architecture level. Stay up-to-date with Salesforce platform capabilities and features, the trade-offs between them, and declarative and programmatic features.
  • Maintain DFATs Salesforce platform as an authorised technology within the Federal Government space including Cyber Security Information Security Manual controls, and records management requirements to meet the Archives act.

Essential criteria:

RESEARCH, ANALYSIS and DESIGN

  • Experience working with different stakeholders to illicit and understand business processes, requirements, and objectives.
  • Thorough understanding of business workflows and business processes, and BPMN modelling
  • Make considered, thoughtful and evidence based conclusions and recommendations
  • Proven ability to think strategically and factor in all aspects of the organisations and clients needs including commercial consideration; sustainability of the solution; security, records management and archiving requirements; and aligning with the organisations business strategy and the ICT strategic plan
  • Demonstrated experience to design enterprise level integration solutions
  • Demonstrate ability to build data models to business requirements.
  • Demonstrated experience in leveraging, and championing, out-of-the-box functionality and config rather than code whenever possible.
  • Experience working with clients and stakeholders on changes, improvements, and efficiencies to their business processes, particularly when adapting to out-of-the-box workflows.

IMPLEMENTATION and DELIVERY

  • At least 5 years experience in a leading role in delivering Salesforce projects.
  • Demonstrated experience to build and deliver enterprise level integration solutions.
  • Demonstrated experience in configuring Salesforce. Ability to build/ modify custom Objects, Flows, Permission sets, sharing and other related configuration and settings.

COLLABORATING, MENTORING and LEADING

  • Act as an effective mentor for Salesforce professionals in the organisation.
  • Excellent communication skills, written, verbal, and interactive when online, and able to tailor communications for different audiences.
  • Experience making persuasive, evidence-based, recommendations that allow decisionmakers to make informed decisions.
  • Ability to work closely with vendors and internal/external stakeholders and develop positive relationships.
  • Ability to work closely within the project team in a fast paced environment and maintain positive relationships.
