Position Description:

This role will work within the SEA2273 Sub-Program of the Warfighting Networks and Applications Support Organisation (WSO), ICT Delivery Division, Chief Information Officer Group, Department of Defence.

The Infrastructure Team Lead is responsible for assisting the SEA2273 ITS Manager with the technical and transformative aspects of the Warfighting Infrastructure Networks. The role is expected to provide management and oversight of the physical Infrastructure, Hyper-Converged Infrastructure (HCI) and Linux technicians, working closely with other technical teams across the wider WSO setting.

The Infrastructure Team Lead will be required to perform and/or have responsibility for duties including, but not limited to:

  • Lead, manage and mentor the HCI and Linux resources in the team to deliver ICT infrastructure in support of capability delivery.
  • Manage, guide and support the design and build of artefacts related to system designs.
  • Develop and build complex Wintel systems.
  • Monitor technical risks and issues, and develop and implement mitigation strategies to ensure that projects stay on track.

Manage ICT Infrastructure to deployed systems.

Define and document project scope and resource requirements.

  • Define and manage priorities against the available capacity of team members.
  • Provide governance and quality assurance of project deliverables (technical and non-technical), including oversight of project documentation.

Manage client relationships and identify opportunities.

Create a collaborative, innovative, and efficient working culture.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Experience working in Defence as an architecture and technical lead for warfighting networks.
  • Demonstrated experience in architecture design, build and implementation of ICT infrastructure and networks.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage the target design, policies and standards, by

working proactively to maintain a stable, viable architecture and ensure consistency of design across the Project and within the Program.


  • Ability to take customer requirements, industry standards and frameworks and apply in a practical application to future proposed designs and systems.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills with ability to present and engage with both internal and external stakeholders and Projects.
