Overview

AFMA has embarked on a generational change program to replace its ageing technology and deliver business benefit. The programs success is highly dependent on a high performing delivery team. AFMA requires a highly organised and effective scrum master to build an agile delivery culture and lead the day-to-day activities of the team.

The Specified Person will be responsible for providing the following deliverables including but not limited to:

  • Facilitating sprint planning, backlog preparation, refinement and prioritisation, stand-ups, reviews and retrospectives.
  • Identifying risks and issues and advising the Program Manager of any significant risks to delivery.
  • Managing and working closely with the agile team and a large number of stakeholders.
  • Coaching and transferring knowledge within the agency and agile teams.

The Specified Person will be expected to transfer skills and knowledge to agency staff and ensure appropriate documentation is stored in accordance with the agencys recordkeeping policy and practices.

The Specified Person will be responsible for producing the following deliverables, including but not limited to:

  • Program Increment (PI) Plans and Sprint Plans.
  • Test Plans, Risk and Issues logs.
  • Reports related to delivery performance and governance.
  • Delivery Framework, Guidance, How To, and presentations as necessary

Essential Criteria

1. Minimum of three (3) years experience as a Scrum Master within a SAFe or agile environment and a current SAFeĀ® Scrum Master (SSM) certification or equivalent. 20 %

2. Demonstrated evidence of ability to champion adherence to consistent application of the agile practices. 16 %

3. Proven experience identifying an Agile teams gaps in agile and leading them to adopt new practices by focusing on agile values and principles. 16 %

4. Proven experience writing Epics, Features and User Stories with acceptance criteria and breaking down into smaller tasks as necessary. 16 %

5. Demonstrated ability to coach, inspire and motivate people to change their mind set and practices as evidenced by experience persuading key stakeholders (like Executive Sponsor, program/project managers, line managers) to become servant leaders and to empower people to adopt agile. 16 %

6. Proven experience creating velocity tracking and graphs (e.g. Sprint Burn down, Release Burn down) using either Agile project management software. 16 %

Desirable Criteria

1. Ability to coach staff (including Scrum Team, Executive Sponsor, Project/Program Manager/s and key stakeholders) on the correct way to interpret metrics for the Scrums performance, progress of work and agility maturity. 5 %

2. Exposure to Agile practices such as Extreme Programming (XP) techniques e.g. Test Driven Development (TDD), Continuous Integration (CI) and Continuous Delivery (CD) across the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC). 5 %

3. Ability to coach, develop and empower individuals in emotional intelligence; how to handle and resolve conflict; and how to give constructive feedback to form high performing, self-organising teams. Experience regarding the facilitation and execution of Sprint Retrospective and Showcase formats. 5 %
