Overview

​​Background of the role:

Land Command, Control, Communications and Computers Modernisation System Program Office (LC4 Mod SPO) is seeking a suitably qualified and experienced Project Manager to operate as an embedded part of the Geospatial LAND project within CASG (LAND1771). LC4 Mod SPO is responsible for the support and sustainment of a sub-set of CASG capabilities. The role will undertake project governance, planning, implementation and evaluation to achieve project outcomes and ensure the achievement of organisational objectives. An understanding of the Defence Capability Life Cycle is desirable as well as the ability to establish and maintain stakeholder relationships through effective communication, negotiation and issues management to ensure project deliverables are met.


Specific Tasks for candidate's primary responsibility:

· Manage the Tranche 1 delivery of a large and complex Geospatial project that includes technology implementation and significant business change components;

· Manage production and ongoing updates to project plans with relevant stakeholders, and provide oversight and direction of planning through all project lifecycle stages, from current design and implementation through to completion, in accordance with agreed scope, timeline, quality and budget requirements;

· Work with members of the wider LAND1771 project team to ensure project dependencies are clearly mapped and managed;

· Set priorities and work with other stream leads to ensure allocation of resources in order to achieve agreed delivery objectives;

· Proactively manage changes in scope and ensure appropriate measures are developed with relevant stakeholders to reassess, renegotiate and replan as required;

· Proactively assess and analyse any risks and issues that may impact project team delivery and work with the Risk Manager and the Project executive to develop plans to address or otherwise mitigate them;

· Maintain productive relationships and ongoing liaison with internal and external stakeholders;

· Participate in business and technical forums and provide regular reporting to relevant governance forums; and

· Manage project team resources.


Essential job criteria:

Demonstrated Project delivery experience in medium to large infrastructure, system integration or business change projects;

Demonstrated experience in managing medium to large project teams with multi-skilled resources;

Strong understanding of methods, processes and procedures relating to project delivery;

Strong understanding of ICT concepts and system development lifecycle management methods;

Ability to work autonomously or within a team to meet objectives;

Excellent written and oral communication skills with proven ability in developing and publishing project documentation, including, but not limited to, Project Briefs and Project Management Plans, etc; and

Demonstrated experience applying Agile and Prince2 methodology/s to deliver projects.
