Job: The Additive Manufacturing Operationalisation Strategy (AMOS) defines Additive Manufacturing (AM) capability at three levels; Strategic, Operational, and Tactical, with the Operational level comprising an intermediate capability suitable for deployment to a staging base (or a large vessel). This capability level aligns substantially to the Operating Concept for Expeditionary Logistics developed by Navy Logistics Branch.
As a subject matter expert on AM technology, the Centre for Innovation proposes to foster the introduction of this capability by contracting for the development of a reference design of a containerised intermediate AM system. This system would contain a metal AM system and all services and interfaces required to operate the system at sea or at a waterfront location. This line of funding is for procurement of services to design a conceptualised solution to a level of detail sufficient that the basic concept is proven, and the output can be used as a reference design. This design will commence the environmentalised operationalisation of a major AMOS component within the Maritime Domain, with actual construction out-of-scope, and subject to follow-on procurement as a Naval Capability (e.g. via Navy Minor Projects).
