The role is responsible for influencing and developing strategies, priorities, and operational practices in support of Defence engineering requirements, including the provision of strategic advice to senior management and stakeholders, while leading work programs that have strategic, political or operational significance.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Review project deliverables and ensure installation specifications are appropriate for implementation.
Conduct system feasibility studies to ensure project designs integrate into the platform systems.
Achieve and maintain engineering delegation to review and approve recommended SA inclusions and amendments.
Identify engineering risks, issues and opportunities for mitigation throughout the planning and implementation phase.
Establish engineering control processes and practices for the project.
Manage engineering project deliverables to ensure requirements are met on time, on budget and in full.
Develop and implement relevant engineering documentation and other briefs or presentations for executive management.
Oversee and report on project status including scope, cost, schedule, and risks.
Prepare and manage project costs including conducting due diligence (cost analysis) on contractor surveys and quotes.
Deliver financial, commercial, technical, risk and change management services to achieve outcomes in an efficient manner.
Lead strategic planning activities for longer term project initiatives and programs that may have agency-wide impacts.
Knowledge transfer to other engineering team members
