 Job Description:

SEA5014PH1 is a Capability Assurance Program (CAP) to support extending Navys ANZAC Class Frigates (FFH) beyond their current Planned Withdrawal Dates (PWDs) to meet the Initial Operating Readiness (IOR) of the Hunter Class Frigates (FFGs).

The project will supplement frigate sustainment funding (CN02) to enable Navys eight Anzac Class Frigates to maintain their combat/platform capability and assure Defences Major Surface Combatant capability until the FFH class is fully replaced by the Hunter Class Frigate (FFG) program in CY2043. SEA5014PH1 will address:

Deferred maintenance;

Hull fatigue and systems obsolescence;

Increased material sustainment risk; and

Margin remediation, e.g. weight and power, from annual growth and Capability Insertion Projects to maintain capability relevance.

Position Overview:

Working with broad direction, the Risk Manager is primarily responsible for the provision of risk and issue management for the SEA5014Ph1 Program Management Office. The role leads expert advice and coordination across the program and projects to ensure an effective risk management process is in place and fosters a risk aware culture.

The role involves broad stakeholder engagement to bring forward a program risk culture through the effective application of the Defence Capability Lifecycle, Defence Risk methods and processes and assurance frameworks.

The Risk Manager is a broad thinker, comfortable in engaging at all levels, including the Senior Leadership Team with a passion to prioritise risk.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Lead and communicate better practice in relation to risk management across the program and projects.

Promote an organisational culture that encourages risks to be openly shared, discussed and addressed.

Coordinate the implementation of CASG Risk Management Policy and supporting procedures and plans across the program.

Coordinate the periodic review and ongoing development of the Risk Management Policy and supporting procedures and plans.

Liaise with project risk managers to support the effective identification, assessment, treatment and monitoring of risk across the program.

Oversee the management of a central Risk Register (PREDICT!) for the program.

Provide insights on risks through analysis, environmental scanning and staff engagement.

Prepare the reporting of risks to the SEA5014Ph1 Senior Leadership Team and to broader managers as required.

Support staff members to understand their responsibilities with respect to risk management, including taking the opportunity to educate internal clients on risk and issues management.
