EL1 Lead Data Engineers

 Job Description:

The Database Management and Dynamics Section within the Business Solutions Branch of DFAT's Information and Technology Division is seeking (2x) ICT labour hire resources to fill the role of Power BI Developer / Data Engineer to provide specialist development, technical services and support for DFAT's Power BI Reporting and data warehouse management capabilities.

Key duties and responsibilities

Job Specific role description

  • Design, develop, and deploy interactive dashboards and reports using Microsoft Power BI.
  • Build and manage enterprise semantic models using Fabric Lakehouse and Warehouse.
  • Develop and optimize data models using DAX and Power Query (M language).
  • Implement data ingestion and transformation pipelines using Fabric Data Factory.
  • Work with Lakehouse architecture leveraging Delta tables.
  • Familiarity notebooks and data transformations within Fabric environments.
  • Implement row-level security (RLS) and data governance best practices.
  • Perform Power BI Service administration including tenancy settings, capacity management, and workspace governance.
  • Implement and maintain Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) across workspaces, apps, datasets and Fabric artifacts.
  • Optimize performance of reports, datasets, and queries.
  • Collaborate with data engineers, business analysts, and stakeholders to translate business requirements into analytics solutions.
  • Perform license assignment and optimisation strategies based on user roles and usage patterns.
  • Support CI/CD deployment pipelines for BI artifacts.
  • Ensure data quality, accuracy, and documentation standards.
  • Experience with trade and statistical analysis software.
  • Manage gateway configurations and on-premises connectivity.
