Backend Developer Laravel

Hi! Were Smartsourcing, and were looking for a Backend Developer (Laravel) to strengthen the systems that power our restaurant brands. You'll design, build, and maintain robust server-side applications using PHP, Laravel, and AWS, supporting both web and mobile platforms.

Role Overview

With your hands-on experience, you'll help create scalable, reliable solutions while collaborating with the team to deliver innovative digital experiences—and continuously improve how things work behind the scenes.



Key Responsibilities

· Report to the Software Engineering Manager and contribute to team goals and development initiatives

· Design, develop, and maintain robust backend systems and APIs using Laravel and PHP

· Build scalable server-side applications that meet business requirements and technical specifications

· Collaborate with cross-functional teams including frontend developers, designers, and product managers to deliver high-quality solutions

· Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code following best practices and coding standards

· Troubleshoot, debug, and optimize application performance and database queries

· Conduct regular security audits and implement security best practices to protect systems and data

· Participate in code reviews to maintain code quality and share knowledge across the team

· Stay current with technology trends, Laravel ecosystem updates, and AWS service developments

· Engage in monthly professional development activities to continuously enhance technical skills

· Set and achieve monthly goals that contribute to team success and organizational objectives

Requirements

· 3+ years of professional software development experience

· Strong proficiency in PHP and Laravel framework

· AWS cloud services knowledge and experience

· Experience with RESTful API design and development

· Solid understanding of database systems (MySQL/PostgreSQL)

· Version control experience using Git

· Strong problem-solving and debugging skills

· Excellent communication and collaboration abilities

Preferred Qualifications

· Experience with Laravel best practices (queues, jobs, events, caching)

· AWS services experience (ECS, Lambda, RDS, CloudWatch)

· Understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies

· Frontend technologies knowledge (HTML, CSS, JavaScript)

· CI/CD pipeline experience

· Unit testing and test-driven development experience
