Job Summary:
We are seeking a results-driven Automotive Service Manager to lead the service department operations for one of Smart Talent Consulting's respected clients. This role requires a dynamic leader with a passion for delivering exceptional customer experiences and driving team success. The Service Manager will oversee daily operations, manage department goals, and ensure that productivity, profitability, and customer satisfaction are achieved consistently.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set and achieve department goals through effective planning and leadership.
  • Recruit, train, motivate, and evaluate service department staff to ensure a high-performing team.
  • Collaborate with Service Advisors to resolve customer complaints promptly and conduct follow-up calls to ensure satisfaction.
  • Develop and manage the annual operating budget for the service department.
  • Ensure compliance with Manufacturer Warranty Policies and Procedures.
  • Monitor department performance through reports, tracking systems, and customer surveys.
  • Build and implement marketing strategies to drive new and repeat business.
  • Stay up to date with federal, provincial, and local regulations impacting service operations (e.g., hazardous waste disposal, safety standards).
  • Promote a culture of teamwork across all departments within the organization.
  • Maintain accurate service files and ensure proper documentation processes.
  • Oversee technician productivity, payroll, and training programs.
  • Ensure high-quality repairs, minimize comebacks, and conduct quality checks on completed jobs.
  • Foster strong customer relationships to encourage loyalty and referrals.
  • Serve as a key liaison with factory representatives and technical schools for recruitment.

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong managerial and leadership skills with a focus on team success.
  • Exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to analyze operating reports and provide actionable insights.
  • Extensive knowledge of automotive repair and the ability to interpret technical manuals.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a major dealership service department (5+ years preferred).
  • Completion of an automotive service technician apprenticeship program or equivalent (preferred).
