Financial Controller

Our client is one of the worlds most renowned, dynamic, and innovative esports and gaming startups that focuses on building and scaling communities, content, and intellectual properties across the gaming ecosystem. The company aims to create and nurture diverse gaming and esports ecosystems by collaborating with content creators, professional esports teams, and gaming influencers. With a keen emphasis on community engagement and entertainment, the company leverages its extensive network to deliver unique and immersive experiences for gaming enthusiasts. Established in Singapore in 2019, it quickly expanded its markets into Southeast Asia including Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, and the Philippines. Currently, they are looking for a Financial Controller to support their organization in the following capacity.

The Financial Controller will be responsible for analyzing the performance of the regional business operations by gathering data, conducting feasibility and profitability analysis, supporting data visualization, and creating solutions to meet and improve business needs. The candidate will support both the Accounting & Finance teams and the management and operations team. The overall duties and responsibilities of this sought-after position are outlined as follows:

• Lead regional accounting teams to ensure accurate and timely reporting.
• Oversee month-end closing for the holding company and subsidiaries.
• Prepare and validate the accuracy of revenue, const of goods sold, margins, and expense forecasts.
• Analyze revenues and expenses to ensure accurate and timely accruals and compare variances between actual results and budgeted costs.
• Manage financial risks by overseeing cash flows and working capital allocation.
• Conduct periodical P&L and budget meetings with regional heads and management.
• Stay updated on local and regional tax and accounting regulations to identify cost-saving opportunities.
• Prepare financial analysis to recommend optimal business decisions.
• Manage financial reporting for the management team.
• Ensure internal controls and compliance and in place and followed.
• Prepare monthly reports with analysis and improvement recommendations.
• Create and track business performance metrics through data visualization tools like MS Power BI, Tableau, or Spotlight Reporting.
• Implement resource management and allocation strategies for effective resource utilization.
• Advise on financial strategies for business expansion and fundraising.

Qualifications:

• Qualified to a degree level in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• At least 7 years of working experience in a finance, accounting, or business role in a startup or E-commerce/ Tech environment.
• Good written and verbal communication skills in English and Thai.
• Knowledge and strong understanding of finance and accounting principles.
• Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Excel/ Google sheets.
• Proactive, flexible, and willingness to do hands-on work.
• Highly detailed with the ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
• Excellent analytical skills with ability to transform data into business information.
• Prior experience with ERP (Xero is a plus) and CRM software.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills to influence stakeholders and work closely to determine optimal solutions.
