Medical Receptionist
About the job Medical Receptionist
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- To ensure that all visitors and telephone callers to the practice are greeted professionally
- To manage the flow of patients arriving at the reception desk, for appointments, prescriptions or queries and to book patients in for surgeries and clinics
- To ensure that prescriptions are generated accurately and efficiently within the timescales specified by the Practice
- To deal with patient enquiries efficiently and courteously
- To accurately take telephone messages, ensuring tasks are sent to the correct member of staff and dealt with appropriately and in a timely manner
- To make appointments for all services we offer, including home visits and nurse appointments
- To accept payments ensuring till balances at the end of the shift
- To accept specimens from patients ensuring all their details have been recorded whilst following the Practice Health & Safety policy
- To ensure building opening and closing procedures are followed
- To develop a thorough knowledge of all Practice policies
- To have a level of knowledge of safeguarding procedures and policies
- To registering new patients following the Practice registration process
- To update details on EMIS as appropriate
- To develop knowledge of stock items required for consulting rooms
- To develop knowledge of vaccines offered by the Practice
Qualifications
Previous medical reception experience Computer literate with medical IT systems (EMIS, Medibooks, ACCURX)
