Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) Engineer

 Job Description:

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) Engineer to join our clients team. This engineer will play a pivotal role in leading the design, implementation, deployment, operation and maintenance of the Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) at the clients site More than just a job, the AMI Engineer has accountability for the entire AMI lifecycle, from development and deployment to operation and maintenance. The role will require a deep understanding of metering technologies and data management in addition to electrical network infrastructure.

The successful candidate will also have the ability to bring people on the journey, providing people and technical expertise and leadership, as well as internal training.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and implement AMI systems and solutions.
  • Oversee the installation, configuration, and testing of smart meters and related devices.
  • Manage and troubleshoot AMI network infrastructure, including PLC, wired and a variety of wireless communications technologies.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, including system designs, network diagrams, and operational procedures.
  • Perform data analysis to monitor system performance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Collaborate with IT and other departments to integrate AMI systems with existing infrastructure.
  • Provide technical support and training to internal teams and external partners.
  • Stay current with industry trends and advancements in metering technologies.

Expertise & Qualifications

  • Experience as an electrical utility industry Professional
  • Experience in producing specifications, analysing and implementing technical standards, and developing documentation.
  • Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field. Masters degree preferred.
  • Valid Driving license
