MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for administration, management and third level support of
  • VMware vCloud, vCenter, vSphere, storage, and associated technologies
  • Linux, Windows, SQL and other supporting technologies
  • VMware NSX and physical networking
  • Firewalls and other security devices
  • Responsible for root cause resolution of complex technical issues
  • Provide professional consultancy surrounding infrastructure technologies, for example cloud services on boarding.
  • Raise third party support cases with appropriate criticalities, managing and escalate as necessary
  • Proactively contribute to continuous service improvement with ideas and suggestions
  • Mentor and guide other team members in their specialist areas of technology
  • Draft and create documentation for systems, services and technologies including procedures
  • Prioritise and manage their own time alongside stakeholder expectations to deliver for internal and external customers whilst balancing business as usual activity and projects
  • Maintain and grow relationships with staff, partners, to enhance customer value
  • Liaise with customers and prospects regarding design of virtual infrastructures, networks, migration and backup/DR strategies

In addition, the person will be required to

  • Understand and comply with the licence and other regulatory rules applying to the position.
  • Understand and comply with the Data Protection Law as it relates to the position
  • Understand and comply with the Health and Safety responsibilities relevant to the role as defined in the Safety Policy
  • Work in accordance with the safety procedures and safe working policies of the client
  • Undertake appropriate security awareness training covering information security, data protection, financial crime and payment card data and comply with their information security responsibilities. This awareness training includes understanding of the incident reporting process to be followed in the event of the employee suspecting, causing, or discovering an information security incident.
  • Due to the nature of this position, the postholder must hold a satisfactory Basic Police Disclosure. All disclosures of a criminal background are treated with the strictest confidence and checks will only be made in connection with suitability for a post and for no other purpose.

Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge and experience of IT infrastructure, including hardware, operating systems, storage, virtualization, virtual desktops and security systems
  • Strong knowledge and experience of backup and replication technologies
  • Strong knowledge and experience of Microsoft AD and DNS
  • Multiple associate level qualification such as CCNA, VCA or equivalent experience, and/or a professional level qualification (or working towards) such as VCP, CCNP. Proven background of providing professional customer service
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate by phone, in person or written
  • Shows initiative and acts independently to resolve problems
  • Demonstrated high levels of accuracy with excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Experience of customer relationships with the confidence and presence to successfully discuss and advise customers
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve successful outcomes in handling difficult situations and work with various customers and management levels
  • 3 or more years experience in an administration role, preferably in a service provider environment
  • Knowledge and experience of ITIL, ISO27001 and PCI-DSS preferred
