About the job FSL Associate
Associates in our Financial Services Law practice enjoy a dynamic and varied workload, advising clients on matters relating to corporate and commercial law, investment funds, banking, and regulatory matters. Our carefully selected legal team is renowned for combining technical expertise with strong commercial awareness, delivering prompt, solution-focused advice that meets our clients needs
We are looking for an individual with strong technical expertise, ideally with experience in corporate law, who combines a client-focused, commercially minded approach with the ability to think quickly and adapt to changing circumstances.
Key Responsibilities
- To provide support to partners and senior associates across a broad range of financial services work.
- Advising on regulatory issues.
- Performing legal research and analysis.
- Review legal forms and documents for accuracy.
- Preparing reports and correspondence.
- Drafting a range of legal documents.
- Maintaining system based filing systems and managing paperwork (bibles) to ensure all documents are stored appropriately.
- Take personal responsibility for achieving target hours, proactively manage billings and debtors and record time in a consistent way.
- Promote and strengthen the Bedell Cristin brand.
- Within the Groups strategy, contribute as required to the development and implementation of the firm's business development plans, with the aim of attracting more work from existing clients and developing new client relationships.
- Support new ventures, identify cross selling opportunities and seek ways to develop our services.
- Participate in non-chargeable activities to enhance the firms know-how and external reputation (e.g., seminars, writing articles, presentations).
- Taking responsibility for a wide range of tasks and projects as required by the lawyers and partners in the group.
- Adhering to all policies, procedures and regulations as required.
Qualifications
- Likely to be 1 to 3 yrs PQE with a Jersey/UK/Commonwealth qualification.
Knowledge/skills/experience
- Demonstrated knowledge of financial law, with strong experience in corporate law preferred
- Knowledge of or a desire to learn about Jersey offshore law
- Strong technical ability
- Business development experience and/or motivation to assist with business development
- The ability to prioritise and manage time effectively
