Assistant Accountant
About the job Assistant Accountant
Responsibilities:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including invoices, receipts, and payment transactions
- Perform monthly bank reconciliations and resolve discrepancies as needed
- Process and manage accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely and accurate payments and collections
- Assist in the preparation of financial reports and statements for management review
- Enter financial data into accounting software or spreadsheets with precision
- Monitor and track company expenses, ensuring proper documentation and compliance with company policies
- Organize and file financial documents and records for easy access and retrieval
- Liaise with auditors during internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and information
- Ensure compliance with accounting regulations and standards
Requirements:
- Relevant Accounting qualification or degree in Finance/Accounting
- Minimum 5 years of experience, preferably in Import and Trading, and at least 2 years of experience in an Audit firm
- Familiarity with Import costing/Stock Valuation would be an advantage
- Familiarity with using ERP systems / Accounting packages
- Proficiency in MS Excel
- Fluency in English and Sinhala; fluency in Tamil is an advantage
