About the job Assistant Accountant

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including invoices, receipts, and payment transactions
  • Perform monthly bank reconciliations and resolve discrepancies as needed
  • Process and manage accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely and accurate payments and collections
  • Assist in the preparation of financial reports and statements for management review
  • Enter financial data into accounting software or spreadsheets with precision
  • Monitor and track company expenses, ensuring proper documentation and compliance with company policies
  • Organize and file financial documents and records for easy access and retrieval
  • Liaise with auditors during internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and information
  • Ensure compliance with accounting regulations and standards

Requirements:

  • Relevant Accounting qualification or degree in Finance/Accounting
  • Minimum 5 years of experience, preferably in Import and Trading, and at least 2 years of experience in an Audit firm
  • Familiarity with Import costing/Stock Valuation would be an advantage
  • Familiarity with using ERP systems / Accounting packages
  • Proficiency in MS Excel
  • Fluency in English and Sinhala; fluency in Tamil is an advantage
