About the job Database Administrator
Responsibilities:
- Maintain, monitor, and optimize database performance to ensure high levels of data availability and security
- Implement and manage database security protocols in accordance with industry regulations and organizational requirements
- Perform regular security and risk assessments, identifying potential vulnerabilities, and developing strategies to mitigate risks
- Ensure compliance with CBSL regulations and other relevant financial industry standards
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, providing database support during large-scale IT projects, including core banking migrations
- Develop and enforce data protection policies, ensuring adherence to standards like GDPR and CCPA
- Troubleshoot database-related issues, providing timely resolutions to ensure the smooth operation of critical systems
- Stay up to date with emerging database technologies, security threats, and regulatory changes to maintain optimal database performance and security
Requirements:
- A Bachelors degree in Information Security, Risk Management, Computer Science, or a related discipline
- At least 5 years of experience in security and risk management, specifically focused on large-scale IT projects or migrations
- In-depth knowledge of security frameworks, risk management methodologies, and financial industry regulations
- Proven experience in ensuring compliance with CBSL standards and conducting thorough security and risk assessments
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a track record of addressing complex security and database issues
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to interact effectively with both technical teams and non-technical stakeholders
- Experience supporting core banking migrations or other large-scale IT projects in the financial services sector
- Strong understanding of data protection regulations, such as GDPR and CCPA, and best practices in cybersecurity
- Familiarity with industry-specific security and risk management frameworks and standards
