Position Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Occupational Therapist to join our client. The Occupational Therapist will be responsible for assessing, planning, and implementing therapeutic programs to help elderly patients achieve their highest level of independence and improve their quality of life.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Patient Assessment:
    • Conduct comprehensive assessments of elderly patients to identify their functional abilities and limitations.
    • Evaluate patients' physical, cognitive, and psychosocial needs.
    • Develop individualized treatment plans based on assessment findings and patients' goals.
  • Therapeutic Intervention:
    • Implement therapeutic activities and interventions to enhance patients' functional abilities and daily living skills.
    • Use adaptive equipment and techniques to improve patients' independence in activities of daily living (ADLs).
    • Monitor and document patients progress and adjust treatment plans as needed.
  • Patient and Family Education:
    • Educate patients and their families on strategies to manage conditions and improve function.
    • Provide training on the use of adaptive equipment and techniques.
    • Offer guidance on home modifications and environmental adaptations to enhance safety and independence.
  • Collaboration and Communication:
    • Work closely with a multidisciplinary team, including doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, and social workers, to provide comprehensive care.
    • Participate in team meetings and case conferences to discuss patient progress and coordinate care.
    • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and caregivers to provide compassionate support and guidance.
  • Compliance and Documentation:
    • Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, including assessment findings, treatment plans, and progress notes.
    • Ensure all documentation complies with hospital policies, professional standards, and regulatory requirements.
    • Adhere to ethical and professional guidelines in the delivery of occupational therapy services.
  • Professional Development:
    • Stay current with advancements in occupational therapy and geriatric care.
    • Participate in continuing education activities, workshops, and professional conferences.
    • Mentor and supervise occupational therapy students and junior staff as needed.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Education:
    • Bachelors or Masters degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited institution.
  • Experience:
    • Previous experience in geriatric care or a related field is preferred, but new graduates are welcome to apply.
  • Skills:
    • Strong clinical skills in assessing and treating elderly patients.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
    • Compassionate and patient-centered approach to care.
    • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
    • Good organizational and time-management skills.
  • Certifications:
    • Registered Occupational Therapist with the Allied Health Professions Council (AHPC) in Singapore.
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is an advantage.

Working Conditions:

  • Full-time position.
  • Hospital environment with regular working hours, but may require occasional evening or weekend shifts.
  • Exposure to patients with various health conditions and potential infectious diseases.
