Senior Healthcare Assistant – Full-Time (33–44 Hours per Week)
Location: Stockton-on-Tees
Salary: £13.20 – £13.44 per hour (depending on experience)
Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time
Setting: Purpose-built 46-bed Residential Care Home
Overview We are seeking experienced and dedicated Senior Healthcare Assistants to join our team in a modern, purpose-built residential care home located in the Stockton-on-Tees area. The home provides high-quality residential care, dementia care and stroke-related care, supported by a qualified nursing team available 24 hours a day. Our focus is on delivering person-centred care, respecting each resident as an individual and ensuring comfort, dignity and safety at all times.
Due to the location, it is desirable to be a driver and have your own transportation.
Please note: We are not able to provide sponsorship. Applicants must have the right to work in the UK and be able to work full-time.
Key Responsibilities
- Support and assist residents with all aspects of daily living, ensuring the highest possible standards of care.
- Assist residents with physical, emotional and spiritual needs, promoting independence wherever possible.
- Provide supervision, guidance and leadership to care staff during shifts.
- Administer medication safely and accurately in line with training and home policies.
- Observe, monitor and report changes in residents' wellbeing to nursing staff.
- Maintain accurate daily records and contribute to individual care plans.
- Support social activities by engaging with residents and encouraging hobbies and interests.
- Respond promptly to the Nurse Call system and provide assistance as required.
- Communicate professionally with residents, families, colleagues and external professionals.
- Clean and maintain equipment used by residents, such as wheelchairs, hearing aids and spectacles.
- Ensure confidentiality, safeguarding and health and safety standards are upheld at all times.
Requirements for the Role
- Previous experience as a Senior Healthcare Assistant for at least 6 months.
- NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care is mandatory for this role.
- Medication training and competency are required.
- Ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
- Ability to work independently and use own initiative.
- Strong leadership skills to supervise and guide care activities.
- Basic IT skills for record keeping and communication.
- Driving licence and own car are desirable.
- Must have the right to work in the UK (no sponsorship available).
- Must live locally and be able to commute easily.
Qualifications
- NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care (mandatory).
- Previous experience in a Senior Healthcare Assistant role (mandatory).
- Care Certificate is desirable.
- Manual handling training.
- Medication administration training.
- Understanding of care plans and their implementation.
