We are looking for someone with extensive ski shop and backcountry skiing experience to assist our manager and take the lead on days off. Going into our 11th season, Skimo Co is well trafficked by knowledgeable folks looking for updated gear, binding mounts, custom boot fitting, and ski tuning. You would be responsible for sales, service, support, and satisfaction in our multichannel retail operation. This is a full-time, year-round position.

Staff management is a key task for assistant managers. The assistant manager is required to:

  • Assign daily tasks, ensure punctuality, make sure staff are always occupied and working and manage staff breaks, ensure these runs to time.
  • Deal with any behavior, attendance, or other difficult issues.
  • Approve staff purchases, stay aware of what staff are purchasing.
  • Ensure staff provide excellent customer service at all times.

Other Duties

  • Ensure staff always maintain store cleanliness including vacuuming, window cleaning and dusting.
  • Ensure a high level of organization both on the shop floor and with stock in storage so it can be easily found by both customers and store staff.
  • Maintain store tidiness by keeping sizes, styles, colours together and putting stock away when moved by customers.
  • Support junior staff in boot fitting, able to take over.
  • Ensure staff are trained to deal with customers in a polite and professional manner as set out in Skimo.Co customer service standards.
  • Handle technical issues with binding mounts and ski tunes.
  • Ensure staff are adequately servicing customer needs.
  • Put together backcountry ski packages from start to finish.
  • Put out fires with demanding customers, ensuring satisfaction.
  • Keep the store organized and flowing throughout the day.
  • Answer gear-related questions for customers and staff.
