Cloud Engineering Lead JOB / ROLE DESCRIPTION

GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION

As a Cloud Engineering Lead, the function of the role is to lead the provision and support of cloud, compute and storage services and related project management services in the region, to ensure the uptime, performance, and capacity of AME cloud, compute and storage platforms, and data centers as well as technical leadership to regional and site IT resources. This requires an excellent mix of technical, IT operations and project management capabilities coupled with strong people and stakeholder management skills. The role understands the critical role compute & storage technologies play in mining and aims to deliver world-class service and project execution. The role involves coordinating with local site IT teams, global IT resources and 3rd Party service providers to deliver compute & storage support and solution delivery as well as management and execution of related site and regional projects and initiatives.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Act as a proactive, reliable, and trusted business partner to the mine

• Technical leadership of the compute & storage IT function in the region
• Lead the implementation of Cloud, Compute & Storage, and related services in the region

• Managing and developing the regional site IT team specialists and resources

• Managing related services according to business / service level expectations

• Accountable for incident resolution and service support

• Responsible for any user related incident or service request escalation

• Ensuring expected performance, capacity, and availability of mine site infrastructure

• Supporting implementations of solutions to support the mine site needs

• Anticipate performance requirements by proactively initiating IT evolutions

• Support standardization and consolidation projects to improve infrastructure operations efficiency

• Identify, support and drive IT innovations, standards, and best practice IT solutions

• Manage external service provider relationships

• Continuously assess technologies for cost saving opportunities

• Maintain security centric mindset for all related technologies

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelors degree in computer science or engineering and/or equivalent work experience

• 5-10 years IT experience in mining or similar industry.

• Cloud & Storage MCSE, CCNA or similar relevant experience

• Hardware Cisco UCS, Dell

• People Management & Team Development.

• IT Service Management ITIL v3/4 Fundamentals.

• Project management skills PMP, Prince2 or similar.

• Vendor Management.

• Budget and Financial acumen.

• Strong sense of urgency, adaptability, flexibility, and resourcefulness.

• Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication.
