SALARY: $75,000 TO $85,000 PER ANNUM

The HMA Group is an international engineering and manufacturing company specialising in the supply of wear resistant lining solutions, material handling equipment, boiler cleaning equipment and services, and process instrumentation and valve solutions. Our equipment and services are utilised across multiple industries including mining, power generation, industrial, petrochemical, oil and gas, process, water and wastewater.
THE ROLE
Based at our Welshpool WA Workshop and reporting to the Production Manager, we are seeking experienced Metal Fabricators or Welders (1st or 2nd Class) to join our fabrication team. The role involves the fabrication, welding, assembly, and repair of metal components including piping, chutes, and complex items requiring ceramic lining.
1. Responsibilities
- Fabricate, assemble, and weld metal components in accordance with engineering drawings and specifications
- Ensure all work meets quality, safety, and production standards
- Operate workshop equipment safely and efficiently
- Contribute to continuous improvement within the workshop
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment
2. Tasks
- Mark out, measure, cut, shape, and form metal sections and plate using hand and machine tools
- Perform MIG welding (and TIG or Stick welding where required) on mild steel and stainless steel components
- Assemble and align fabricated parts to produce piping systems, chutes, and complex fabricated items
- Use and operate overhead gantry cranes and forklifts to move materials and finished components
- Inspect welded joints and finished products to ensure compliance with specifications
- Carry out minor repairs and modifications as required
- Polishing and filing welds.
- Study and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications
3. Qualification
- Trade qualification AQF III of higher, in Metal Fabrication or Welding (1st or 2nd Class) and at least 2 years of on-the-job training.
4. Skills
- Proficient in MIG welding of stainless steel and mild steel
- Ability to accurately read and interpret technical drawings
- Competent in the use of hand tools, power tools, and workshop machinery
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to workplace safety
- Effective time management and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work both independently and within a team environment
5. Experience
- Minimum 2 years relevant post-qualification experience in a fabrication or welding environment
- Experience in industrial or heavy fabrication preferred
- Machining or fitting experience desirable but not essential
Salary $75,000 – $85,000 with overtime opportunities
