Position Overview

The Mechanical Engineering Technician will provide technical support to engineering operations, assist in the design, installation, testing, and maintenance of mechanical systems and equipment, and ensure machinery operates efficiently and safely. This role closely supports engineering staff and production teams.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support to mechanical engineers in the development and implementation of mechanical systems
  • Assist with planning, installation, commissioning, and modification of mechanical equipment
  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and operational standards
  • Monitor equipment performance and report faults or inefficiencies
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives within mechanical operations

Tasks

  • Prepare, interpret, and revise mechanical drawings, plans, and specifications
  • Conduct tests, inspections, and measurements on mechanical systems and components
  • Assist in diagnosing mechanical faults and recommending corrective actions
  • Coordinate maintenance schedules and assist with repairs and upgrades
  • Collect and analyse technical data to support engineering decisions
  • Maintain technical documentation, reports, and service records

Qualifications

  • Diploma or Advanced Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology or a closely related field or higher qualification.

Skills

  • Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles and practices
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
  • Competence with mechanical testing equipment and tools
  • Problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Knowledge of workplace health and safety standards
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills

Experience

  • Minimum of 2–3 years relevant work experience in a mechanical engineering technician or similar technical role
  • Experience in industrial, manufacturing, or mechanical service environments will be highly regarded

SALARY: $85,000 TO $95,000 PER ANNUM
