Position Summary

PERTH BETTER HOMES PTY LTD is seeking a skilled Carpenter – Patio Construction Specialist to join our team delivering high-quality outdoor living solutions for residential clients across Perth. The role focuses on the construction, installation, and finishing of patios, pergolas, and outdoor structures that enhance the functionality and value of residential and commercial properties.

The successful candidate will be responsible for constructing patio structures from timber, steel, and associated materials while ensuring compliance with Australian building standards and company quality expectations.

Key Responsibilities

• Construct, assemble, and install patios, pergolas, and outdoor shade structures for residential homes and commercial properties.
• Measure, cut, shape, and assemble structural components including beams, posts, rafters, roof framing, and decking supports.
• Interpret building plans, patio designs, and engineering drawings to ensure accurate installation and structural integrity.
• Install roofing materials for patios, including polycarbonate sheets, insulated panels, and metal roofing systems.
• Prepare work areas and install support footings, posts, and structural frames for outdoor structures.
• Perform carpentry tasks such as fixing fascia boards, trims, battens, and finishing components to patio structures.
• Use hand tools, power tools, and construction equipment safely and efficiently.
• Ensure all patio installations comply with Australian building codes, engineering specifications, and workplace safety standards.
• Collaborate with supervisors, installers, and other tradespeople to ensure projects are completed on schedule and to a high standard.
• Maintain tools, equipment, and materials in good working order and keep job sites safe and organised.

Skills and Experience

• Minimum 3–5 years of carpentry or construction experience, preferably in patios, pergolas, or outdoor structures.
• Strong understanding of structural carpentry, framing, and outdoor construction methods.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and patio installation plans.
• Experience using carpentry tools and machinery for cutting, shaping, and installing building materials.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team on construction sites.

Qualifications

• Relevant trade qualification in Carpentry or Construction (or equivalent experience).
• Construction White Card required.
• Valid drivers licence preferred.

Working Conditions

• Full-time position working on residential patio and outdoor improvement projects across the Perth metropolitan area.
• Standard working hours Monday to Friday with occasional weekend work depending on project schedules.
