AIRCRAFT MAINTENANCE ENGINEER (STRUCTURES)

ANNUAL SALARY $76K - $96K

Purpose of the Role

As an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (Structures), you will, under direct or limited supervision, inspect, dismantle and reassemble aircraft structures, and repair or replace components of aircraft frames. You will work with both metal and carbon-fibre composite materials, ensuring all work complies with aviation maintenance standards.
The role includes completing documentation associated with inspections and tests, interpreting maintenance manuals and specifications, planning and reporting on work, liaising with clients where required, and ensuring all tasks are completed efficiently, safely, and within deadlines.

Key Duties

  • Inspection, diagnosis, dismantling, testing, maintenance, fabrication, repair, manufacture and assembly of aircraft including aircraft structures, parts and sub-assemblies.
  • Work with both metal and carbon-fibre composite materials.
  • Conduct routine pre-flight inspections of aircraft frames and structures.
  • Maintain records and documentation in accordance with aviation maintenance standards.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Tasks include, but are not limited to:

  • Performing aircraft and servicing duties.
  • Removing and installing aircraft components.
  • Disassembling and reassembling aircraft structures and components.
  • Preparing and using aircraft support and ground equipment.
  • Conducting inspection, maintenance, servicing, repair and fault diagnosis of components and systems.
  • Carrying out aircraft flight-line handling duties.

Other Duties

  • Carry out any additional tasks as required by management or other departments.
  • Adhere to all Occupational Health and Safety procedures and maintain a safe working environment.
  • Exercise sound judgment always ask questions when unsure.

Qualifications

  • AQF Certificate III in Engineering (Mechanical or Structural Trade)
    or AQF Certificate IV in Aeroskills (Structures) (AME qualification),
    or equivalent qualification or equivalent experience.

Experience

  • Demonstrated experience and understanding of hangar-based aircraft maintenance.
  • At least two years of experience.
  • Ability to work to tight schedules and maintenance deadlines.
  • Experience working with metal and composite (carbon fibre) structures and materials.

Knowledge

  • Interest in aircraft mechanics, modification, fabrication, and general aviation.
  • Familiarity with aviation maintenance manuals, standards, and documentation systems (advantageous).
