ROLE OVERVIEW
The Roofing Supervisor will be responsible for ensuring that the roofing teams are properly coordinated, that work is executed in accordance with the required specifications and methodology, and that the necessary health and safety requirements are always maintained.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
A. Site Supervision
- Supervise and coordinate all roofing labour and activities on site.
- Ensure that labour-only personnel are properly directed and supervised.
- Allocate daily tasks and monitor progress against the programme.
- Ensure that the required manpower is available and appropriately utilised.
- Maintain discipline and proper housekeeping within the work areas.
- Coordinate activities with EKN's site management and other contractors working on the projects.
B. Roofing Works
- Supervise the installation, repair, replacement and associated roofing works as instructed by EKN.
- Ensure that roofing materials are installed correctly and in accordance with the approved specifications, drawings, and manufacturer's requirements.
- Monitor workmanship and identify defective or unacceptable work.
- Ensure correct installation of roof sheets, flashings, closures, waterproofing, insulation, gutters, downpipes, and associated roof components where applicable.
- Ensure that penetrations and interfaces with existing structures are properly executed and weatherproofed.
- Inspect completed work and report outstanding defects to EKN.
C. Health and Safety
- Ensure that all roofing personnel comply with the project's approved health and safety requirements.
- Ensure that personnel working at height use the required fall-protection systems and PPE.
- Ensure that access equipment, ladders, scaffolding, lifelines, and other safety equipment are properly used.
- Immediately report unsafe conditions, incidents, near misses or non-compliance to EKN.
- Stop unsafe work where necessary and notify EKN's responsible management representative.
- Ensure that the work area remains safe for other contractors and persons working in the vicinity.
D. Quality Control
- Monitor the quality of all roofing installations.
- Ensure that work is carried out in accordance with the approved scope, drawings, specifications, and instructions.
- Inspect materials prior to installation and report any damaged or unsuitable materials.
- Ensure that completed sections are inspected before the roofing team moves to the next area.
- Maintain a record of defects and ensure that corrective work is completed.
E. Program and Reporting
- Assist EKN with planning and sequencing the roofing works.
- Provide daily progress updates to EKN.
- Report delays, material shortages, access restrictions, and other issues that may affect completion.
- Maintain daily records of labour attendance and work completed.
- Provide photographs and progress information when requested.
- Immediately escalate any issue that could affect the programme, quality, safety, or cost of the works.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Have proven experience supervising commercial/industrial roofing works.
- Have experience managing labour-only roofing teams.
- Be competent in working at height and familiar with applicable fall-protection requirements.
- Be able to interpret roofing drawings, specifications, and installation details.
- Have sufficient technical knowledge to identify poor workmanship and construction defects.
- Be able to manage and coordinate multiple roofing activities.
- Be able to communicate effectively with labour, subcontractors, management and other contractors.
- Understand site health and safety requirements and the responsibilities associated with supervising roofing activities.
