Senior Business Analyst

Role Summary

We are looking for a Senior Business Analyst who can also operate as a Product Owner, bridging the gap between business stakeholders, end users, and the delivery team. This is a hybrid role for someone equally comfortable eliciting and documenting requirements as they are owning a product backlog, prioritising features, and driving sprint outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

Business Analysis

• Elicit, analyse, and document business requirements through workshops, interviews, and stakeholder engagement
• Translate business needs into clear user stories, functional specifications, and process flows
• Conduct gap analysis and recommend process improvements
• Support UAT planning and execution, and validate delivered solutions against requirements
• Produce BRDs, process maps, and requirement traceability matrices as needed

Product Ownership

• Own and prioritise the product backlog in line with business goals and stakeholder input
• Define and communicate a clear product vision and roadmap
• Write and refine user stories with acceptance criteria for the development team
• Participate in sprint planning, backlog grooming, sprint reviews, and retrospectives
• Act as the primary point of contact between business stakeholders and the delivery team
• Make trade-off decisions on scope, priority, and timelines in collaboration with stakeholders

Required Qualifications & Experience

• 5+ years of experience as a Business Analyst, with at least 1-2 years in a Product Owner or Product Manager capacity
• Proven experience working within Agile/Scrum delivery teams
• Strong skills in requirements gathering, user story writing, and backlog management
• Hands-on experience with tools such as Jira, Confluence, or equivalent
• Solid understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC)
• Experience defining acceptance criteria and prioritization frameworks (e.g. MoSCoW, RICE, WSJF)
• Bachelor's degree in Business, IT, or a related field
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to translate between business and technical language

Preferred / Nice-to-Have

• Certification in Business Analysis (CBAP, PMI-PBA) and/or Product Ownership (CSPO, PSPO)
• Experience in a client-facing or consulting environment
• Exposure to data analysis or basic SQL for requirements validation
• Experience working with distributed/offshore delivery teams
• Domain experience relevant to the hiring company's industry
