Strategic Pay and Reward Manager
About the Role
We are seeking a dynamic and forward-thinking HR professional with substantial local government experience to lead and innovate within our Strategic Pay and Reward function. This pivotal role involves overseeing and advancing key projects, including:
- Job Evaluations Modernisation: Revamping and updating job evaluation processes to ensure they are fit for purpose and aligned with current best practices.
- Equal Pay Audit: Conducting comprehensive audits to assess and address any gender or equality pay gaps, ensuring compliance with legal standards and promoting fairness.
- Pay Scale Reviews: Leading reviews of existing pay scales to ensure competitiveness, equity, and alignment with organisational objectives.
You will be responsible for developing and delivering innovative, future-focused strategies that ensure our workforce is fairly and competitively rewarded. This includes:
- Overseeing job evaluation frameworks.
- Leading pay modelling and workforce analysis.
- Managing all aspects of pay-related policy and consultation.
About You
You are a seasoned HR professional with deep expertise in pay, reward, and benefits strategy. You bring a wealth of experience in job evaluation, equal pay, and workforce analytics, and you are passionate about using data and insight to inform strategic decisions. Your leadership style is inclusive and empowering, and you are adept at influencing senior stakeholders, managing change, and delivering results through others.
You understand the importance of equality, diversity, and inclusion, and you embed these principles in everything you do. You are also someone who sees the bigger picture, someone who can translate organisational goals into meaningful people strategies that attract, retain, and reward talent.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the Strategic Pay and Reward function, ensuring alignment with organisational goals and objectives.
- Develop and implement innovative pay and reward strategies that are competitive and equitable
- Oversee the job evaluation process, ensuring consistency and fairness.
- Conduct equal pay audits and implement strategies to address identified gaps.
- Review and update pay scales to ensure they are competitive and aligned with market standards.
- Provide expert advice and guidance on pay and reward matters to senior leadership and other stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation and best practices in pay and reward management.
Person Specification
- Experience: Proven experience in a strategic pay and reward role within a local government setting.
- Skills: Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and make informed decisions.
- Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire teams, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
- Communication: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
- Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of pay and reward practices, job evaluation methodologies, and equal pay legislation.
- Qualifications: CIPD qualification or equivalent experience in HR management.
