Salary: 400,000 - 450,000 per month

Working Hours: Monday to Friday, Alternate Saturdays

Job Type: Full-Time


Job Description:


The position involves the application of professional medical knowledge and experience in the operation and maintenance of medical services, including medical services associated with regulatory controls. It includes provision for clinical assessments and examinations of clients including children; and the examination, investigation, diagnosis and/or treatment of patients. It also provides for the management of this work.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:


Medical Assessments:


  • Provide medical opinion, recommendations on health check plans and medical packages for periodic screenings.

  • To liaise with the visiting consultants and provide aide during procedures.

  • Attend to the medical reports that are presented for interpretation, opinion and recommendation as to the possibilities of further medical complications arising during the proposed periodic screenings.

  • The MO must maintain current medical registration.

  • Assist with projects as required by the Medical Director including the development of an evidenced based library to support all medical decision making.

  • Plans, implements and monitors health activities alongside marketing dept.

  • The MO will provide opinions and recommendations in the co-ordination of medical case management. will provide medical assessment for periodic check clients of different categories and the provision of medical reports where required.

  • Work also involves application of different concepts, processes and diagnostic methods relating to well-established aspects of administrative or professional fields.

  • Health education, counselling and information provision about how to improve health and prevent disease and interventions or treatments that treat risk factors.




Medical Case Management:

  • Urgent medical and nursing services (including resuscitation, stabilization and assessment and diagnosis, treatment and referral as necessary).
  • Assess the urgency and severity of presenting problems through history taking, examination and investigation.
  • Examines patients and investigates the diseases through physical examination and other diagnostic tests.
  • Provides basic treatment for all medical problems using standard treatment protocol.
  • Reviews and follow up patients who are on treatment to ensure the completion of treatment.
  • Refers difficult and complicated cases to the specialist concerned for further treatment and management.
  • Make medical recommendations to the management based on available information.
  • In the event of a medical resuscitation, provide medical justification, stating the medical grounds for recommending a resuscitation (or transfer to alternative management). In the first instance such recommendations should be medically determined, though not ignoring the commercial implication of such a recommendation.
  • The Medical Practitioner undertakes medical examinations and assessments.
  • Work involves performing independently preliminary investigations of medical problems; initiating medical treatments and review and follow up of the cases including analysis of unusual conditions and problems.


Provision of support to the administrative function:


  • Maintain clinical and/or patient files for clinical cases.

  • Ability to operate office and data processing equipment.

  • Supervises the nurses, clinical officers, health workers and technicians under her/him.



KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:


  • Currently registered with the Nigerian Medical Council.

  • Current clinical skills in emergency medicine, intensive care.

  • Competency in advanced life support skills

  • Computer literate.

  • Ability to communicate, influence and build effective relationships at all levels of the business.


QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) and registered with the NMA and Medical Guild Council.

  • Minimum of 4 years experience as General Duty Medical Officer or equivalent

       experience.

  • Good command of written and spoken English

  • Good interpersonal skills, have good rapport with people

  • Have the ability to communicate at all levels

  • Pro-active approach, capable of working on own initiative

  • Ability and flexibility to deal with pressure and deadlines.
