Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Contract Fundraising Consultant to lead our fundraising efforts and secure the capital needed to fuel our rapid growth and expansion plans. This is a 6-month contract position with the possibility of extension, requiring approximately 20 hours per week.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive fundraising strategy aligned with our growth plans
  • Identify and cultivate relationships with potential investors, including venture capital firms, angel investors, and strategic partners
  • Prepare and refine pitch decks, financial projections, and other fundraising materials
  • Lead investor presentations and negotiations
  • Provide strategic advice on company valuation and deal structuring
  • Collaborate with the leadership team to refine the business plan and financial models
  • Stay informed about fundraising trends and opportunities in the African healthcare and tech sectors

Qualifications

  • Proven track record of successfully raising capital for startups, preferably in healthcare, tech, or e-commerce sectors
  • Strong understanding of the African investment landscape, particularly in West Africa
  • Excellent network of investor contacts in relevant sectors
  • Deep knowledge of various funding mechanisms (e.g., equity, debt, grants)
  • Strong financial modeling and analytical skills
  • Exceptional communication and negotiation skills
  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA or relevant advanced degree preferred

Compensation Structure

We offer a competitive compensation package designed to align with company goals:

  1. Base Retainer:
    • Monthly retainer commensurate with experience for 20 hours/week
  2. Performance-Based Success Fees:
    • Tiered structure based on funds raised, with rates increasing at key milestones
    • Potential to earn significant bonuses for exceeding targets or closing rounds early
  3. Equity Compensation:
    • Opportunity to earn equity based on performance and funding milestones
  4. Contract Terms:
    • Initial 6-month contract with performance reviews at 3 and 6 months
    • Possibility of extension based on performance and company needs
  5. Expenses:
    • Reimbursement for pre-approved, directly related expenses
