Position Overview:
We are seeking a qualified and results-driven Credit Analyst to join our team. This role is critical to assessing the creditworthiness of prospective borrowers, supporting responsible lending decisions, and maintaining a high-performing loan portfolio. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, a good understanding of SME lending in Nigeria, and a passion for contributing to inclusive finance.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Credit Assessment & Analysis
Conduct detailed credit analyses including financial statement reviews and cash flow forecasting.
Evaluate loan proposals and determine creditworthiness based on financial and non-financial indicators.
Review supporting documents such as bank statements, invoices, and business plans.
2. Risk Evaluation & Monitoring
Identify credit risks and propose appropriate mitigants.
Maintain and update internal risk grading models and risk assessment frameworks.
Monitor active loans to detect early warning signs and manage delinquencies proactively.
3. Portfolio Management
Track and report on the performance of various credit products (e.g., SME loans, vendor financing schemes).
Recommend restructuring strategies when necessary to ensure portfolio health.
Contribute to regular reports for management and regulatory purposes.
4. Documentation & Compliance
Ensure loan files are complete and meet both internal and regulatory requirements.
Collaborate with legal and compliance teams to uphold KYC, AML, and credit policy standards.
Stay updated with relevant industry regulations and best practices.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
Turnaround Time for Credit Decisions: 5 working days
Non-Performing Loan (NPL) Ratio: 5%
Credit Report Timeliness & Accuracy: 100% on schedule
Compliance Adherence: 100% with CBN and internal policies
Stakeholder Satisfaction: 90% in internal surveys
Contribution to Credit Policy Development: 1 per quarter
Support for Impact Goals: 70% of loans aligned with priority segments (women, youth, underserved)
Qualifications & Requirements:
Bachelors degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.
3 - 5 years of experience in credit analysis, preferably within a financial institution or impact fund.
Strong understanding of financial statements, cash flow modeling, and credit risk assessment.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and credit scoring tools.
Familiarity with the Nigerian SME lending environment.
