Business Manager

Location: Surulere, Lagos
Salary: N500,000 - N550,000 per month
Experience Required: Minimum of 7 years

Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and dynamic Business Manager to oversee our pharmaceutical wholesale operations. The ideal candidate will be responsible for identifying growth opportunities within the pharmaceutical sector, creating marketing strategies to capitalize on these opportunities, and meeting or exceeding revenue goals. This role demands a proven track record in business development, exceeding sales targets, and leading teams. The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of customer relationship management, strategic marketing, and inventory management, and will possess a strong, goal-oriented attitude to drive the success of the division.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop new business relationships and maintain existing ones with suppliers to ensure adequate supply of products.

  • Research new product lines and develop new business opportunities for the company

  • Negotiate contracts with vendors to ensure that terms are fair for both parties.

  • Monitor inventory levels to ensure that products are available when needed.

  • Ensure that products are stored properly to eliminate spoilage or damage.

  • Prepare bids and proposals for potential clients and customers

  • Prepare budgets, cash flow forecasts, and other financial reports for management review

  • Review sales reports on a regular basis to identify opportunities for inventory turnover or markdowns.

  • Set up computerized inventory tracking systems to monitor product sales and inventory levels.

  • Develop and implement comprehensive marketing strategies to promote pharmaceutical products and increase sales volumes.

  • Conduct market research and analyze data to identify market opportunities and trends.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment of marketing initiatives.

  • Build relationships with small business owners

  • Wear multiple hats if needed and being a team player in a fast-paced and entrepreneurial environment.

  • Assist in performance and review of detailed valuation analyses and create transaction structures for acquisition targets.

  • Assist in analysis of financial statements to understand and assess the profitability of existing business.

  • Manage marketing budgets and track campaign performance metrics.

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and ethical standards in pharmaceutical marketing.

  • Train and mentor junior marketing staff, providing guidance and support.

  • Maintain awareness of competitor activities and industry developments.

  • Assist in the collection, organization, and analysis all relevant financial information

  • Assist in the preparation of investment memorandums to seek investment approval

  • Develop and pitch ideas for potential investors

  • Quarterback the LOI-to-close process as the sellers main point of contact and ensure successful closing as well as successful transition to the operations team

  • Possess a highly collaborative and positive attitude and always maintain company values


Basic Qualifications & Key Selection Criteria:

  • Education:

    • A Bachelors degree in Pharmacy or a related field is required. Advanced degrees are a plus.

  • Experience:

    • Minimum of 7 years experience in business development or sales, with direct experience in the pharmaceutical and supply chain distribution sectors.

    • Prior experience with pharmaceutical M&A transactions is an advantage.

    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications; experience with Salesforce is a plus.

    • Strong written and oral communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with small business owners and suppliers.

    • Excellent time management and organizational skills, with the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
